The Mammoth in My Community – 2024

A man believes there’s a mammoth roaming his community, and he’s determined to find it. Filmed through a homemade soda can pinhole lens in one day, this short was an experiment to see if Sean could make a film entirely on his own without a cast or crew. It was also an attempt to see how far Sean could push his lo-fi aesthetic before it broke down into abstraction.

The Garage Behind Your House – 2022

A man moves into a house with a mysterious garage in the backyard. Will he get up the nerve to ignore the “no trespassing” sign and go inside? Partially filmed in 2017 and finished in 2022, Sean created this short film as a standalone episode for his Summer Stories miniseries.

Queen Anne – 2020

Filmed entirely with a pinhole lens, Queen Anne is a short film about a desperate young woman on the run from the law who finds herself alone in an empty field. It’s an exercise in deliberately lo-fi filmmaking focused on sound design and moody, antique-feeling visuals.

A Note – 2020

An entry in Sean’s Summer Stories miniseries, A Note is a self-contained film about a man who finds a note behind a bathroom mirror with a location, a date and a time. Who left it there and why? Part meet-cute, part Hitchcockian thriller, A Note is Sean’s best-received short to date.

Summer Stories Miniseries: 2017 – 2022

Summer Stories is a miniseries of interconnected short films set in the fictional town of Summer, Illinois. The shorts range in tone from comedy to horror and in genre from thriller to sci-fi. Summer Stories currently lives on Sean’s comedy YouTube channel “Probably Okay” and involves many of the same cast members from the channel.

Black Cat Hallowmas – 2012

Shot on a low-end DSLR and kit lens over the course of three days with friend and frequent collaborator Jeremiah Sanders, Black Cat Hallowmas is the story of a lost soul making mischief in a lonely midwestern October town, told wordlessly through visuals and music.

NEW MAN – 2015

In NEW MAN a metaphysical scientist gets in way over his head. Shot on Kodak Tri-X B&W Super 8 Reversal film with a Canon 310XL, NEW MAN encapsulates Sean’s ideal shooting style–simple and to the point with lo-fi texture to spare.

Bridge – 2007

One of the first serious shorts Sean ever made, Bridge was shot on 16mm black and white reversal Kodak film in the Spring of 2007 with a Bell and Howell Filmo 70. This quirky little silent film stars Sean’s close friend and collaborator Michael Golus, who still collaborates on projects with Sean today.
